August 13, 2025: 2025 +Policy Camp

2025 +Policy Network Policy Camp
A group of faculty, graduate students and a postdoctoral fellow joined members of the +Policy Network in a day-long workshop on basic policy concepts, policy research and how to engage with stakeholders on August 13, 2025. The experience covered basic terminology and concepts and included several interactive activities during which "campers" could explore their interests and get to know one another. These included a “serious game” involving stakeholders and policy decisions and other structured activities. Interactive engagement was interspersed with brief conceptual overviews by “camp counselors”, which in turn led to further discussion.

Policy Camp is an annual in-person professional development and networking offering that allows participants to learn about policy basics, the research-policy interface and how to increase the impact of your work for policymakers while earning professional development credits that confer badges and that can be used toward a new computer through TLOS’s Computer Refresh program. Asynchronous, online courses are also available on demand. Together, the two sets of activities fulfill the full 12-hour professional development requirement for Computer Refresh.
