+Policy Network Policy Impacts
A new report describes Overton, a new database, as a tool to measure the reach and impact of the +Policy Network at Virginia Tech. It assesses the database’s reliability, validity, ease of use, interpretability of categories, and overall strengths and limitations. The assessment, conducted by Isabel Bradburn, Mahmut Sami Gurdal, and Anne-Lise Velez, also examines member policy impacts from 2017 to 2023. | Click here to access
+Policy Fellows and Scholars News
Brendan David-John, a previous +Policy Scholar, joined Virginia Tech’s “Curious Conversations” to talk about gaze data - information collected from eyes when using devices - its applications in virtual and augmented realities, and the associated privacy concerns. He highlighted the potential for gaze data to reveal personal information and related security implications, especially in a military context, and shared the projects he’s currently working on to better mitigate this threat. | Click here to listen
